Jacob named the place Peniel — “face of God” — for he said, “I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been spared.”

What does it mean to see God face to face?
Such an experience is the result of God calling you to him. So God initiates the face to face event. Can you imagine that, God wanting to speak with us personally? As with Jacob, he wants to confront our complacency and neglect.
How does one respond? First, we recognize our utter helplessness. Second, we pour our hearts out to him in confession. We plead for his grace.
As we do this, we too will have a face to face experience with the Only Wise Eternal God. Remember, he is calling or has called us to such an experience. He will provide grace to help in our time of need.
Dear Father, thank you for sending Jesus Christ to show us your face. Empower us to maintain a personal walk with you. In Jesus’ name. AMEN
