“Stand your ground, putting on the sturdy belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.” Ephesians 6:14 (NLT)
The same attitude and spirit that makes our worship acceptable to God must also fortify our daily obedience and commitment to truth. If we follow the crowd so that we won’t be embarrassed, then obeying the truth loses its power in our lives. Perhaps we should examine our body armor.
William Penn wrote, “Right is right, even if everyone is against it; And wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it.”
The worldly attitude of libertarian privilege is contrary to scriptural grace and truth. Just as our worship is acceptable only when it is offered to God in Spirit and in Truth, our witness only has impact when it is firmly planted on truth and protected by righteous living. In relation to the world, sometimes all we can do is stand firm in the truth.
Dear Father, thank you for the Truth of your Word. Forgive me for all my arrogance, pride and vanity. Deliver me from my own ideas and opinions. Enable me to discover your truth. Surround me with your righteousness. I pray this in Jesus’ name. AMEN
Let us praise God for truth and stand firm in it,
Pastor Smith
