“He restores my soul” Psalm 23:3a (NAU)
The euphoria of spiritual highs usually muffles the sound of God’s voice. I may be enjoying a glorious “mountaintop” experience and believe that I am spiritually close to God. I must consider, however, that such emotionally charged experiences have specific spiritual purposes.
Note Jane Eggleston’s words, “The mountain tops are glorious; But it’s in the valleys I grow.”
Now I am not diminishing the value of the “mountaintop” or increasing the value of the “valley.” I am not going to pray for one and shun the other. As a spiritual being, I need both in equal doses and a balanced manner. My shepherd knows that both are required to restore my soul.
Dear Father, thank you for both spiritual highs and personal growth. Thank you for spiritual restoration. Forgive me for any resistance I have given you. Grant that I may surrender to all your work in my life. This I pray in Jesus’ name. AMEN
Let us praise God for his refreshing restoration and live as lively stones,
Pastor Smith
