Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light.” St. Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)
Someone said, “God loves you so much that he accepts you just the way you are; But God loves you too much to leave you that way.”
In my contemplations of Jesus Christ, I have noticed that all my wounds are healed. He comforts all my grief. He cares about all my concerns. When I am sad, Jesus makes me glad. When I am worried, Jesus calms my fear. I just plunge into his presence with all my burdens. It is there I find rest. By his side I am refreshed. His word and his spirit strengthen me. He comforts my soul. He calms my raging spirit. He speaks peace to me and leads me to calm waters. He restores my passion for ministry and life.
J.I. Packer wrote, “we are cruel to ourselves if we try to live in this world without knowing the God whose world it is and who runs it.”
Dear Father, thank you for Jesus who gives peace and rest for weary souls. Forgive me for not bringing my burdens to him more often. Deliver me from the belief that I can handle things myself. Empower me with your refreshing peace and rest. In Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN
Let us praise God for his plan and live for his glory,
Pastor Smith
