“Why sayest thou, O Jacob? and speakest thou, O Israel? ‘My way hath been hid from Jehovah, And from my God my judgment passeth over.’”
Isaiah 40:27 (YLT)
For me to think, much less say, that God has forgotten me is an insult to God. Thinking that my ways are hidden from him should be a sufficient rebuke to my wrong thoughts about myself.I am no more abandoned or forgotten or hidden from God than Adam, Noah, Job, Abraham, Moses, Elijah, David, Daniel, Jonah or Jesus. His love is set upon me, therefore he will not forsake me.
Let us consider how false and irreverent we are to accuse God of losing interest in our needs and abandoning us. We are his children and the sheep of his pasture. The good shepherd, Jesus Christ, never leaves nor forsakes his sheep.Today would be a good day for me to reconsider. Perhaps I should ask him to give me shame for such thoughts. Such pessimism is an immense dishonor to my God and Shepherd.
Dear Father, thank you for never forsaking me. Forgive me for all my complaints and dishonor to you. Forgive me for ignoring your great care and concern for me. Help me to be more sensitive to you. Give me the grace to be honest with myself in this matter and enable me to trust your love and care for me. I pray this humbly in Jesus’ name. AMEN
Let us praise God for his constant concern and live in that conviction,
Pastor Smith
