Light In Darkness

“For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:5-6 (ESV)

Witnessing for Jesus is a like the light behind a church’s stained glass windows. Their true beauty cannot be seen without a light shining through them.

The windows are only servants of the light and the message they portray. They cannot even portray the message without the light reflecting through them.

God has chosen to make known his glory by reflecting it in the face of Jesus Christ. He commanded light to shine in the darkness of our hearts so that the light of Christ, in us, would reflect that glory to the world.

Just like the windows, which need the light in order to reflect their beauty, we need Christ Jesus to shine forth the glory of God through us. Those who look will not miss the message.

Dear Father, thank you for your grace and mercy. Thank you for the light of Jesus Christ which you have shined into our hearts. Empower us to reflect the light of Jesus Christ in our lives and ministries. I pray this in Jesus’ name. AMEN

Let us praise God for the light and knowledge of Jesus Christ and live for his glory,

Pastor Smith
