“The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of a teacher, that I may know how to sustain the weary with a word. Morning by morning he wakens– wakens my ear to listen as those who are taught.” Isaiah 50:4 (NRS)
Sometimes we treat God like we are tourists. Tourists only go places to vacation. They want to see the sights and be able to brag about having been there. They buy trinkets to decorate there homes, etc. When their vacation is over, they return to their lives unaffected.
Sometimes we treat God like we are travelers. Travelers go places to discover and experience new things. They ask questions. They are truly interested and want to change their lives by what they discover. When their trip is finished, their lives are enhanced by their experiences.
Sometimes we treat God like he is the teacher and we are his disciples. Disciples hang on his every word. Disciples learn and grow. Disciples put into practice what they have learned at the master’s feet. When the class is over, their lives can never be the same again. Disciples share their knowledge and experiences with others.
Dear Father, thank you for your mercy and grace. Empower us to be disciples so that we may teach others. Enable us to learn and grow into what you want us to be. This I pray in Jesus’ name. AMEN
Let us praise God for his grace and live to his glory,
