“For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.” Psalm 1:6 (NIV)
This psalm is a contrast between those who, by faith, trust in God for righteousness and those who reject him and his righteousness.
On the one hand, those who trust God are blessed with a solid, enduring foundation. They are particular about who they listen to. They do not associate too closely with those who practice sinful lifestyles. They won’t even sit near scoffers and critics. This is more of an attitude toward God than toward humans. And as a result, they enjoy a fruitful, stable prosperity.
On the other hand, those who reject God have no stability. Their lives are like chaff that is blown away by the wind. They will not be supported in the judgment. They will not be given any righteous consideration.
Then we see how the above is true. By our lifestyle decisions, we place ourselves in the hands of the Almighty God. And because of our choices, he provides us with his righteousness, or he allows us to perish.
Logic would dictate that one place trust in God, but humans are the most illogical creatures anywhere. Besides, God’s righteousness and salvation cometh not by logic but by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Dear Father, thank you for your grace and mercy. Thank you for the provision of your righteousness. May we continually walk by faith. In Jesus’ name. AMEN
Let us praise God for his provision of grace and live to his glory,
