“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16 (KJV)
Before we can be the light, we must be hidden in Christ. To be hidden in Christ is to know that he sees and knows everything about us but still loves us and forgives us. When we can stand alone in the darkness and know that God sees us, then we can be certain that we are truly his light to the world.
Of course, there are some people who resent the Lord’s presence. The problem of that attitude is that they will never enjoy the warmth of the peace his presence brings.
Dear Father, thank you for your presence that makes us to be your light. Empower us to so live that your light in us may shine brightly in the lives of those around us. I pray this in Jesus’ name. AMEN
Be encouraged by the light of his presence today,
