“And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, ‘Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.’” Matthew 20:17-19 (KJV)
Here is the reason we do not have to fear death. Jesus faced it with such assurance knowing that death would be defeated.
He gives the twelve assurance of the resurrection then. And through Matthew’s narrative, he promises us that death is defeated in his resurrection.
So what if he was betrayed! So what if he was condemned to death! So what if he was mocked, scourged, and crucified! He was resurrected on the third day just as he said! As horrible as all the other actions against him were, His resurrection defeated them all!!!!!!!
His resurrection assures us of ours, if we believe in him as our eternal Savior. Because he lives, we will live also!!!!
Dear Father, thank you for Christ who was resurrecte4d to die no more. Empower us with steadfast faith in his sacrifice and resurrection. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today in the resurrection of the Savior,
