“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Matthew 24:32-36 (NIV)
Fig tree lessons: pay attention to what is happening around you. When you see the right conditions and events, recognize that the end is near.
We can be as certain of the end of this world as we are of the Word of God. For the Lord’s words will never fail.
It is futile to ask when the end will be. In His infinite wisdom, the Father has reserved this knowledge for himself alone.
Ours is not to ask when, ours is simply to be ready for the end. How do we get ready? Accept and receive God’s plan of salvation as outlined in the following verse:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
Dear Father, thank you for your grace and mercy. Empower us with the faith to endure to the end. I pray this in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today in God’s saving grace,
