God’s Gifts

“A spiritual gift is given to each of us as a means of helping the entire church.” 1 Corinthians 12:7 (NLT)

Gifts and giving are special abilities for meeting other people’s needs. Our giftedness is what helps us serve the church effectively.

Sometimes it takes effort to get ourselves into a place where we can exercise our spiritual gift, but once we start serving, the gift comes naturally. If you’re not sure what your gift is, ask somebody. Our gifts are for others, and for this reason, those who receive the benefits of our gifts are the best qualified to tell us what they are. An easy way to discover our gifts is to simply get involved with a small group, or get involved in some capacity in our church or community. As we reach out to people in general, our expertise begins to flow. It will be hard to miss. It’s a blend of what we like to do, what comes easily, and what those around us confirm.

It is exciting to realize that the King of Kings has gifted us to help Him in His church. His desire is to make a difference in this world through us. What a privilege it is to serve Him with our gifts!

Dear Father, I praise you for the gifts you have placed in me. May I always glorify you as I use them to minister to your church. Grant me the boldness to exercise them today. Inspire me for a place of service. Thank you for using me. I pray this in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be encouraged today in God’s gifting,
