The liberties of free people are precious. Think about it! Although our liberty cost a great price, Americans didn’t have to purchase it with money. We who enjoy the American dream today were born in a nation that values liberty. It is a nation that guarantees those liberties to every citizen.
What a marvelous blessing from God! It was God that placed the desire for freedom in the hearts of our forefathers. It was God who caused them to formulate the concepts of liberty and justice for all. It was God who gave them the intestinal fortitude for the struggles. It was God who enabled them to persevere and achieve freedom. Thank God! Praise his holy name! He is glorious in his acts!
Today is voting day in America. What a wonderful liberty! We can choose to exercise this right or not. We are neither forced to vote nor restrained from voting. Yet, if we exercise this right, then we can do so in an orderly, safe environment without fear. This alone is enough to produce gratitude. Born free! What a marvelous gift from God! Let us not take it lightly. Let us not abuse it. God help us to not ignore it or take it for granted.
Dear Father, thank you for the privileges of a free people. Empower us with faith in your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior! Enable us to exercise responsible citizenship in order that we may remain free. In the name of Jesus I pray. AMEN
