The Depths of God

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him” — these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 1 Cor. 2:9-10 (NRS)

The Adirondack Mountains overflowing with color in the Fall. Gulf Shores’ beaches glistening in the sun. Snow on the peaks of the Rockies in summer. Apple trees in full bloom. Golden wheat swaying in the wind. Pumpkins in green fields as far as the eye can see. The most beautiful diva out of Hollywood or anywhere else. Yet we haven’t seen any beauty to compare with the revelations from God.

The songs of the early morning birds. The music of Mozart, Elvis, Ronnie Milsap, or even the church choir. The chatter of the chipmunk. The quiet of the midnight. The awakening sounds of a new day. The roar of crashing waves. The booming of thunder. The whisper of the wind in the afternoon. Wonderful sounds, but we haven’t heard anything to compare with the revelations from God.

Your wildest imagination. My wildest imagination. Dreams that cover the earth. Big ideas that would bless the Church and mankind. Yet our intellect can neither fathom nor conceive anything to compare with the revelations from God.

The only way we will ever see true beauty, hear truly wonderful sounds, and experience marvelous things beyond the realm of our present existence is to examine the depths of God through the Spirit. He will show us unimaginable aspects of eternal life that only the redeemed will ever know. He has done it all for those who love him. Aren’t you glad that you do?

Dear Father, thank you for revealing yourself through Jesus Christ. Grant that we may enjoy your blessings through the Spirit. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be encouraged today in the depths of God through Spirit,
