“Now faith is the substance of our hoping, the evidence of our undertaking, not of our seeing.” (Heb. 11:1 SyS)
Today is the tomorrow I dreamed about yesterday! This is the year we longed for all last year. It is the time that we promised we would start the new project, make changes, and achieve our goal. Now the future has become the present. The pressure is on. No more excuses. No more procrastination. It is time to put up or shut up!
Yes, we walk by faith, but faith is both a noun and a verb. Faith is a walking word. If we are not walking, then it is not faith but fantasy. Faith is only faith IF and WHEN it is active. Faith is going without knowing. Faith is a present indicative element of life. In the present, faith acts on beliefs formed in the past about the future.
“So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Rom. 10:17).
“Now faith is the substance of our hoping, the evidence of our undertaking and not of our seeing” (Hebrews 11:1).
The Hebrews author teaches us that faith is an action element of our life. Faith is more than simply hope. Faith is also the undertaking activity that provides evidence or proof of our faith. Faith is neither substance nor evidence of sight. And we do not walk by sight! Rather, ours is an active walk of faith.
This new year of 2009 is fresh and laid out before us. All our dreams and plans need faith actions in order to be achieved. What action can you do today that will move you forward? Forward is growth. Everything else is stagnant and dying.
Dear Father, thank you for faith in Christ Jesus our Lord. Empower us to act in faith on the elements of our lives. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today by moving forward in faith,
