The Strength of Partnership

“Two people can accomplish more than twice as much as one; they get a better return for their labor. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But people who are alone when they fall are in real trouble. And on a cold night, two under the same blanket can gain warmth from each other. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NLT)

In the beginning, God said that it wasn’t good for the human to be alone (Gen. 2:18). This statement wasn’t about Adam’s loneliness, but about his inability to achieve God’s directives. Adam needed a partner to help him achieve his divinely appointed purpose and mission.

Naturally, one’s partner must be aligned with one’s purpose and mission so that it becomes a mutual purpose and mission. And when two or more people are working together to achieve the same purpose, the power of synergism takes over. As a result, more is achieved by the team than any one individual could have achieved alone.

Consider this: In order to achieve His purpose and mission of global evangelization, Christ asked for the help of twelve people. He assembled a team to achieve His goal. As it pertains to our personal purpose and mission in God’s Kingdom, perhaps we should follow the Lord’s example and find others who are compatible and want to achieve God’s purpose for the glory of God.

Dear Father, thank you for a purpose and mission. Grant that we may find partners to help us achieve that purpose and mission for your glory. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be encouraged today in the strength of your partnerships,
