“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” Psalm 91:1-2 (KJV)
There I sat on the beach, in the sun glancing at my cell phone. I was on vacation, but because I am a pastor, I thought I had to have my phone on 24/7. My church members might need me and well, you know . . .
As I turned my gaze toward my wife, who was enjoying a stroll through the surf, the Spirit of God spoke to me: “They are my people and the sheep of my pasture. Both you and they can live safely in my presence. Trust me.”
Calmness settled over my spirit. I picked up the phone and purposely turned it off. God could . . . and would take care of my flock. I got up and joined Bobbie. The surf washed my stress away.
I decided then that I would live in that secret place with the Most High God. He is my refuge and I trust Him despite my anguish and stress and uncertainties.
Dear Father, thank you for making a secret place for us to dwell. Grant that we may always remain under you omnipotent shadow. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today in God’s Shadow,
