“The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. The LORD watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. ” Psalm 145:18-20 NIV)
Sometimes the Lord seems so far away, but such a thought or suggestion may be used by the enemy to create doubt of God’s love and concern for us.
The Word of God stands as solid as ever! The Word of God does not rise or fall upon our feelings and thoughts. Yet, we may allow them to create questions and doubts in our minds. What is God’s promise? He is always near to each and everyone who seriously and truthfully calls to Him. So, what’s the issue if we are experiencing a sense of spiritual loneliness? Let’s reflect personally on this: perhaps we are not serious with our calls to God; or we are not truthful in our calling. It’s something to seriously and truthfully consider. Maybe God didn’t move, but somebody did . . . Who?
Our God is always near to us. And yet, people claim that He has forgotten or is not listening because they have not received their petitions and requests from Him.
Still, we have the more sure Word of God. He hears the cries of those who fear Him; He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; and He saves those who fear Him. With promises like these, how could anyone accuse God of forgetting or not listening to their supplications? This is a huge and difficult issue for those of us who fear God. In all honesty, it will probably take a lifetime of learning and submission to God in order to fully grasp the ramifications involved in this issue. It takes a lot of unpacking and wise consideration. No single answer can satisfy all the questions of all those who fear God and are still waiting for God to respond to their requests. Perhaps there is a general principle that may apply in every case. Have faith in God and do not give up until your desire is fulfilled. God has promised!
Our God is always near us because He is our Shepherd. He preserves and guards and watches over all those who love Him. Do you love Him?
Perhaps if we told God how much we love Him, we might begin to feel His presence again. Perhaps our loneliness would disappear; our depression would dissipate; our prayers heard; and we would feel Him near.
Dear Father, thank you for your presence. Empower us with faith and fortitude to persevere to the end. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
