“Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them– the LORD, who remains faithful forever.”
Psalm 146:5-6 (NIV)
Today is the day after . . . And a rainy Monday is dreary indeed. After the wonderful program at yesterday’s worship service, our spirits want to prolong the praises and soar in His presence, yet duty calls. The triumph of the Resurrected Christ seems distant as we go about our responsibilities.
Oh, well . . . our praises do not depend only on Resurrection Sunday. We praise God all year long . . . everyday . . . as long as we live! Mournful, monotonous Mondays are no obstacle to our praise! We simply encourage ourselves: “Praise the Lord, O my soul.” We speak words of life into our souls: “I will praise the Lord all my life.” And we give the adversary a black eye: “I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.”
Those around us may wonder at our cheer. They may think that we are near the end of our rope, but we have help. Our circumstances may seem hopeless to those who have no hope, but we have hope. Our help is the Almighty God! Our hope is in the Creator of the universe. And no matter how our friends, family, and associates may chide us; our God is always faithful . . . and He will be faithful forever.
Just note how God works. He brings deliverance to the oppressed. He provides food for the hungry. He gives liberty to those imprisoned by the adversary. He gives sight to the blind. He encourages those who are burdened and depressed. He showers His love upon those who love His righteousness. He protects the disenfranchised and underprivileged. He creates obstacles in the path of the wicked. He is our God! He reigns eternal!
Why would we not praise the Lord? All together now . . .
PRAISE THE LORD!
Dear Father, thank you for being our help and hope. Empower us with the victory of the Resurrected Christ, today and everyday. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today in God’s help, hope, and faithfulness,
