Exalting God

These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.”
John 17:1-2 (KJV)

Here is an interesting concept: Recognize the time that God’s purpose in us is being realized and request that He will exalt us so that through His exaltation of us, we may exalt Him. It is the same as asking God to allow His glory to be seen upon us as we minister so that through our ministry we may glorify Him. The whole desire of Christ was to exalt the Father.

Like our Example, we should realize “the hour is come.” Everyday in our families, at work, at the market — the bank — wherever, our hour is come. Don’t you think we should ask God to let His glory be seen in us so that we may exalt Him? For those who are preachers and pastors, we need to ask God for this grace each time we go into the pulpit, into a home, into a hospital, etc.

Our moment in the spotlight — wherever that is; as often as that is; whenever that is — should be an event that exalts and glorifies Christ the Lord and God the Father. We need His glory to radiate out from us in order that our words and actions may truly glorify Him. Like our Lord and Savior, our whole desire should be to exalt and glorify God.

Dear Father, thank you for your grace and mercy. We know that without you we can do nothing so we humbly ask that you exalt us in the hour of ministry so that we may truly exalt and glorify your name. In the name of Jesus I pray. AMEN

Be encouraged today as you exalt our Lord and God,
