Lines and Precepts

“For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:11-17 (KJV)

Lines and Precepts
Empty I sit and void of thought.
What exactly should be taught?
A biblical principle? A theological concept?
Here a little, there a little, a line and a precept.

But whom shall I teach? Who desires more of God?
Where do I find beginners? Where do the innocent trod?
Those newbirth babes, those children of the Book,
Thirsty for God and drinking from his brook.

Here a little, there a little, a line and a precept.
The Cross and the Resurrection form God’s concept.
And we know all things work together for those who love him.
The ignorant and the fool reject God and follow a whim.

Eternity yawns before us, ready or not.
The Son of God is the answer, no matter what!
Faith is the issue, eternal life the concept.
Here a little, there a little, a line and a precept.

Dear Father, thank you for your concepts of salvation. Grant that every one who reads these words will accept and receive your plan of salvation. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
