The Eternal God

“But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God and the everlasting King. At his wrath the earth quakes, and the nations cannot endure his indignation. Thus shall you say to them: “The gods who did not make the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under the heavens.” It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens. When he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, and he brings forth the wind from his storehouses.”
Jeremiah 10:10-13 (ESV)

An unknown author wrote, “When we cease to wonder, we cease to worship.” How true! Yet, post modern society barely considers God, with little or no wonder at all. Our world scarcely considers that humanly-designed gods will disappear from the earth. Because godless men and women have stopped wondering after God, they have also stopped worshipping him.

But no matter what others may think, say, or do, people of faith everywhere will continue to be amazed by and worship “the LORD, the true God, the living God, the eternal King.” He alone is worthy of our praise and worship!

“In God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise your name forever.”
Psalm 44:8 (NIV)

“I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you; I will praise your name, O LORD, for it is good. For he has delivered me from all my troubles, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.”
Psalm 54:6-7 (NIV)

“I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.”
Psalm 138:2 (NIV)

“I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.”
Psalm 145:1-3 (NIV)

“O LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.”
Isaiah 25:1 (NIV)

Dear Father, thank you for revealing your wonders to us. Empower us with awe and wonder so that we may truly worship and give glory to your name. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
