Trust In God

“And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.” (1Co 2:3 KJV)

Challenges tend to intimidate me. They produce weakness and fear and much trembling. Weakness because I lack self-confidence. Fear because of unknown elements. Much trembling because I don’t know where to begin or what the end will be.

It is during challenging times and experiences that we need help the most. We don’t want textbook answers. We don’t want band-aid solutions. We are not interested in treating symptoms, we want real-world solutions to real challenges. Usually, we seek the counsel of someone who has “walked this way before.” Someone who can tell us how to conquer the challenge.

Most of us contemplate: “what will happen if/when . . .?” Yet at each intersection in the Highway of Challenges, we gain strength and courage; joy in the midst of sorrow; peace and contentment in the midst of chaos. When the challenge is no longer challenging, we discover that God has strengthened us and our fears have disappeared.

So, we may properly conclude that the solution to every challenge is found in trusting God. Now consider: The person who trusts is not necessarily free from fear. Rather, the person who trusts does so in spite of his/her fears. The trusting person refuses to let fear be an obstacle. He/she confronts the fear with trust in the God who provides every need at exactly the moment it is needed.

Dear Father, thank you for being our trustworthy God. Empower us with greater trust. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be encouraged today and trust in God,
