Emmanuel

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Mat 1:23 KJV)

Our Lord’s name is Emmanuel – God with us! Forever He is Emmanuel. He is always with us! Before we get caught up in the feeding frenzy of December’s commercialism, lets remind ourselves that Christmas is about Emmanuel. Let us remind others that the reason we enjoy this season is God came to be with us.

“God with us” is the best gift of all. Since this is true there is nothing that can defeat us, not even death. This is certainly great news to share with those who have little or no hope. God is with us!

The angel of the Lord came to Joseph and gave him scriptural confirmation that Mary was the pure vessel of the Holy Spirit chosen to be the mother of God’s Anointed One. She had been favored above all women and had submitted to being the Lord’s birthing instrument.

Our Lord and Savior did not just drop from the sky at an appointed time. He was born of a woman just like all humans. His father, however, is God. Despite his human nature, He is Emmanuel. Because of Mary’s purity and willingness to be used of God, we now enjoy the presence of Emmanuel. God is with us! And because He is with us, we can dedicate ourselves to bearing the gospel of peace and goodwill to all people.

Dear Father, grant that we may dedicate ourselves to sharing and showing Christ to the world. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be encouraged today in Emmanuel,
