“All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:27-30 KJV)
Today’s passage along with Psalm 23, is a most-loved passage of Scripture. The beautiful prose of the King James Version enhances this love for these passages. Both passages are beautiful expressions of God’s love for his people. What a thought! God loves us so much that He cares for us. And He reveals himself to us through his son.
Someone said, “God loves you so much that he accepts you just the way you are; But God loves you too much to leave you that way.”
In my personal considerations of Christ, I have noticed that through him all my wounds are healed. He comforts all my grief. He cares about all my concerns. When I am sad, Jesus makes me glad. When I am worried, He calms my fear. I just plunge into his presence with all my burdens and there I find rest. In his presence I am refreshed. His word and his spirit strengthen me. He comforts my soul. He calms my raging spirit. He speaks peace to me and leads me to a place of calm. He restores my soul, eases the yoke of ministry, and lightens the burdens of life.
J.I. Packer wrote, “we are cruel to ourselves if we try to live in this world without knowing the God whose world it is and who runs it.” I encourage you to get to know him today.
Dear Father, thank you for Jesus, our Lord, who gives peace and rest for weary souls. Empower us with your refreshing grace. I ask this in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today with Christ’s easy yoke and light burden,
