A Reason To Praise God

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.” (Jude 1:24-1 KJV)

Giving glory to God . . . how’s that? It is Christ Jesus who empowers the Church to give him glory. It isn’t difficult to give glory to God. When we stop preening ourselves and look at him, we discover there are plenty of reasons to praise him.

Consider that He is the only One who can keep us from falling . . . spiritually, with all the ramifications involved. Despite the philosophy that one can’t fall, God “is able to keep you from falling.” If we relied on ourselves, we would fall. He is the only One with the ability to keep us from falling. That is a good reason to give him glory.

With a sense of false humility, we might reject the idea of ever being “faultless” before God, but that is to reject the power of God. Either God is able to keep us from falling or He isn’t . . . which is it? The issues involved here are about God and God’s power to preserve us despite ourselves. Our personal focus must be on God and not on ourselves or our ability. His ability . . . a good reason to praise him.

I acknowledge that I do not comprehend how He keeps me from falling, but I am going to believe the Word of God. This Word proclaims that God’s keeping power operates through Christ Jesus. It is interesting that our presentation “before the presence of his glory” will be done “with exceeding great joy.” I suppose such joy will include both ours and the Lord’s. At that time, do you think we might be praising him just a little?

Remember, If we will yield to him, Christ will do more in us than we think is possible. “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-1 KJV)

Dear Father, thank you for keeping us through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Strengthen our faith and our resolve to rely on your keeping power. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
