“Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself.” (Psalm 50:3-6 KJV)
Jerry walked out on his patio into the morning quiet. During his morning devotions, he had heard a voice speaking to him. No one in the family was awake yet, so Jerry surveyed the valley and surrounding mountains allowing this voice to speak freely. All that day, as he worked around his ranch, he listened to that voice.
The next morning as Jerry watched the sun come up, he began to understand the voice. Like the sun rising out of the eastern horizon, God was showing himself to Jerry. And he realized that no matter what unbelievers and skeptics might think, God will not remain silent. He calls to everyone who will listen. God shouts to the heavens above and the earth below to prepare for his judgment.
The third morning, Jerry listened as God told him his duty. “Gather my saints together unto me: those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice!” Jerry knew instantly that God was commissioning a roundup. First, you go into the canyons and underbrush to find the lost ones. Next, you encourage them to come out and join all the others on the trail home.
And when people — lost in the hedges and highways of this world — accept God’s sacrifice at Calvary and make a covenant with him, then God’s judgment will favor them. He will claim them as “my saints.” Because God is the Righteous Judge.
Dear Father, thank you for your sacrifice and your covenant. Give us faith to believe and receive your mercy and grace. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today as you prepare for the judgment,
