“do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” Romans 12:2a (NAS)
Someone complimented the sculptor on his statue of David. The sculptor replied, “David was there all the time. I just chipped away the marble until he appeared.”
In our lives, God is the sculptor and he is chipping away all the fleshly, worldly, and sinful features until his glory appears. He is transforming us into his glorious image.
How can we help him? We begin by presenting ourselves to him. Next, we remove the veils from our faces and look upon the glory of the Lord (2 Cor. 3:18). We look into the Scriptures and see him in truth, holiness, and glory (John 1:14). We look upon him humbly, with an open mind, in faith. We refuse to let our heart be hardened with doubt and unbelief. We accept his chisel of mercy and grace.
What a glorious thought! God is chipping away at our lives until his glory appears in us.
That means, then, that the real you and the real me can only appear through the glory of his image. Since it is the Spirit’s work, let us yield to his hand today.
Dear Father, thank you for your transforming grace. Empower us to yield our minds and attitudes to your hand. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today by the Spirit’s transforming work,
