“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.” (Proverbs 21:2 KJV)
Someone has said, “Christians who are too severe in their criticisms of others are usually too lenient with themselves.”
Isn’t it interesting that we judge or measure everyone’s errors but our own. In fact, we often won’t admit our faults even when they are graphically described to us. When it comes to our weaknesses and failures, we seem to have tunnel vision. Our eyes can only see the failures of others.
It is certainly good that God ponders (i.e. measures) the heart of each individual. He knows the thoughts, intents, and motivations. Nothing is kept secret from him!
Note the gracious words of Jesus as He began his ministry: “Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” Perhaps we might consider this repentance issue considering the hour in which we live. It might be important to measure ourselves in preparation for his return.
When He measures my heart, I want him to see nothing that would displease him. He is coming back soon and I want to be ready to receive him.
Dear Father, thank you for your measuring grace. Grant that our own ways do not hinder us at your return. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today in God’s measure,
