“Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment. And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.” (Isaiah 32:1-2 KJV)
When righteous men reign, righteousness will prevail in their governments. Think how great life would be if all graft and corruption were absent from commissions, legislatures, congresses, and all political offices. If every judge and jury would decide justly and apply the decision mercifully, what a day that would be!
Come now, don’t accuse me of naivité. Please tell me that you believe such a day is not only possible, but is coming. It is just as certain as the Word of God! And even if it hasn’t arrived in the physical world, it is already here in the spiritual realm.
Jesus Christ is the King of Righteousness! He is the hiding place for those who need protection from the winds of life and troubles. He is the cover from the storms that rage around us, both physical and spiritual. His covering doesn’t stop the storm or the pain, but it protects from the destruction.
The righteousness and justice that Jesus Christ brings can truly be described like rivers of water in a dry land. He refreshes and strengthens those who trust in him like a river refreshes a dry, parched pasture after a drought. He protects those who trust him like a boulder’s shadow protects a weary hiker from the heat.
“and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation” (Hebrews 9:28).
Dear Father, thank you for Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior who reigns in righteousness. Enable us to trust him in all our circumstances. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today in the King of Righteousness,
