Fire Power

“. . . the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire.” (Jam 3:5 NLT)

With our Scripture passage, James is actually warning us of the dangers of a loose tongue. The US Navy has an old adage: Loose lips sink ships. Such warnings simply emphasize the power of our words, not only on others but on ourselves also.

I want to encourage us with the impact such a forest fire power can have on our own lives. While our words can be destructive to us and others, that they can motivate and inspire as well. In other words, they will spark a great forest fire. The question is: What will be the results? Destruction or inspiration and motivation?

Perhaps there are elements of our lives that need to be burned out of us. Speak to them in the name of Jesus! And consider that we can re-create our lives simply by changing our minds and how we think about ourselves.

Speak a fire of inspiration and motivation that will transform your life. Renew your mind and how you talk to yourself. Burn out the doubt and fear. Replace them with faith and hope. Speak affirming expressions of enthusiasm, joy and motivation.

When we renew our thinking, our speech will change also. When we change our self-talk, our lives will be transformed. Make 2011 a year of inspiration and motivation to achieve God’s purpose in your life. Add enthusiasm and passion to your conversation today.

Dear Father, thank you for the power of your Word. Enable us to speak a fire of inspiration and motivation to ourselves and others. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be courageous with your fire power,
