“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.” (Jude 1:24-25 KJV)
Jude warns 1st century believers against false teachers who will deceive them and divide the Church. After counseling them how to recognize the deceivers and avoid the deceptions, he concludes with this solemn praise to our Savior and God.
What a proper way to end our discussions — praise to God! No matter what we have discussed, God has the ultimate last say and therefore worthy of our praise. Whether we have been right or wrong in our conclusions, God will settle all issues in his own time and way. Praise his holy name!
But our attitudes should always portray the understanding that God is both able and willing to keep us from falling. God wants to present us faultless before the presence of his glory! Since God has promised to not remember our sins (Heb. 8:12 & 10:17), he will extend his own faultlessness to us. Just as God applied his own righteousness to Abram for his faith in God (Gen. 15:6), he will apply his own faultlessness to us for our faithfulness to God. Understanding this concept — or the lack thereof — will not deter God from applying it.
Simply knowing that God keeps us from falling is enough to shout his praises! Simply knowing that God will present us faultless to himself is enough to jump for joy in praise to our Savior and God! We don’t have to comprehend how he does it, just knowing that he does is enough.
Standing in the presence of his glory and majesty will be worth all our struggles in this life. Talk about joy unspeakable and full of glory, we won’t be able to restrain ourselves! We will be so happy that our God reigns supreme — that our God is all-powerful — that we have been faithful to him.
Sin may rage here — temptations may abound — but do not fear, our Savior will present us faultless to our God. In his eternal presence there is no sin or sorrow. In his dominion perfect holiness and perfect joy. Surely, our God is worthy to have glory, majesty, dominion, and power both now and for ever!
Dear Father, thank you for your presentation promises. Empower us with the confidence of your grace and favor. Enable us to walk in the hope and joy of your promise. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be courageous and trust God’s dominion and power,
