Christ’s Strength

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Philippians 4:13 KJV)

Limits! We really don’t like them when other people saddle us with them. But really, those so-called limits are not true limits, because we just ignore those and go forward. Our real limits come from ourselves: what we think we cannot do or achieve.

The strangest thing occurs when we decide there are no barriers or limits — when we tell ourselves we can achieve a greater goal. As soon as we decide there is no boundary, leaping past it is no problem. We wonder why we ever let it be an obstacle. All of sudden, the next battle isn’t as difficult as all that went before it. “Well, what do you know?” we say to ourselves, “That wasn’t my limit after all.”

Don’t you agree that our bodies tend to obey the limits our brains proclaim? Our great Apostle, Paul of Damascus Road wrote, “Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2 KJV).

The world will place limits on us — don’t conform to it. We place limits on ourselves — don’t conform to it. Instead, lets transform ourselves with a renewed mind — no limits — because all things are possible to everyone who believes, and Christ strengthens those who act in his name.

This principle is true on our jobs, in our relationships, and in our spiritual lives. We’ll never know how far
we can go until we stop telling ourselves we cannot go that far. We’ll never know what we can achieve for God until we refuse to let doubt and fear rule us and step forward in faith.

Dear Father, thank for sending your Son, Jesus Christ to go where no one had ever gone before. He defeated death, hell, and the grave because he refused to accept any limits. Empower us to go forward in faith. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be courageous in Christ’s strength,
