Continuous Conversation With God

“Pray without ceasing.” [1Thessalonians 5:17 KJV, ESV, NAS,NRS, (“pray continually” NIV)]

More time spent in prayer — early rather than later — would be the catalyst to revive and transform our relationship with Christ. Such an habitual conversation would be a conquering weapon when the enemy attacks. It would bring deliverance from shame and sin. It would give power to our personal growth and witness. Our secret, continuous conversation with God would be evident in holy living.

Regular conversations with God influences our lives. We become like the one who regularly influences us. Biblical holiness is neither rare nor difficult when we continuously talk with God. We become like the one we spend time with. Of course, our spiritual growth takes more than a hurried, cursory greeting to the Lord.

Perhaps our lives are spiritually deficient because our conversations with God are deficient. Are we missing something that lengthy, intense conversations would produce? Is life shabby and weak? Perhaps our devotions are shabby and weak.

By now we should understand that our conversation with God drives our spiritual strength and growth. Talking with God is the most important thing we can do each day. It will produce calmness and intestinal fortitude to achieve God’s purpose for our lives. Continuous conversation with God requires time and deliberation, but it produces great results . . . abundant results.

The Apostle knew that we could never pray too much, but we could pray too little. Paul understood that if we would learn the value of continuous prayer, we would never grow weary in our journey with Christ. So, we might consider a conversation with God “from the rising of the sun to going down of the same.”

Dear Father, thank you for talking with us as often as we desire. Empower us to keep a conversation going with you at all times. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be courageous today as you talk with the Lord,
