The Day Is Approaching

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25 KJV)

We are again getting close to that time of year when we think we will never get it all finished. It seems as soon as school begins, we have one harried day after another. Summer has ended and the Fall holidays are fast approaching.

Where are we going to get the time to do all that needs to be done? Fall Festivals, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. We get exhausted just thinking about those busy schedules. Yes, these special days are approaching quickly and we must be ready for them. So, we make all the necessary arrangements. We want to have everything in order and finished on time. We plan to have a great time with family and friends.

Where does our time with God fit into these busiest days of the year? Have we forgotten that Jesus exhorted us to watch and pray? The Scriptures teach us to look to Him and make time for Him, as we see the day of the Lord approaching. Are we making all the necessary plans and arrangements to be ready for his return? Like the preparations we make during the “most wonderful time of the year,” do we make sure everything is in order for our Lord’s return? Are we ready for the celebration to begin?

An old song says, “Jesus is coming soon, morning or night or noon.” Yes, the day of the Lord is coming. I want to make sure that all the things are ready for His coming. Do not forget it is “All about Him” during this most wonderful time of the year.

Dear Father, thank you for reminding us that you are coming soon. Empower us with the fortitude to make you our first priority in getting ready for the season. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be courageous today preparing for Christ’s return,

Bobbie Smith
