Call On the Lord

“Thus saith the
LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is
his name; ‘Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty
things, which thou knowest not. ‘” (Jeremiah 33:2-3 KJV)

“Call unto the
Lord” . . . what an invitation! “I will answer you” . . . what a
marvelous response! “I will show you important, hidden things that you do
not know” . . . what a glorious promise!

Who can promise such
a thing? The One who created the earth. The One who formed the universe. The
One who established the eternal laws that govern all creation. The One who is
eternal. Jehovah is his name!

No other person can
effectively promise us the promises contained in Jeremiah’s narrative because
no one else has the authority and power to fulfill such a promise. God alone
can promise this to you because he alone can fulfill it.

Note this: whatever
level of spiritual maturity we may presently enjoy, God wants to reveal more of
himself to us. Yet, he will not force himself on us. To access more, we must
call on the One who has more to reveal. And to call on him, we must admit that
there is something we don’t know, but want to know, which he alone can reveal
to us.

O to know “the
great and mighty things” of God! O to hear his response when we call! O to
expect the revelation of something important! O, Lord send it down!

Dear Father, thank
you for  your promise. Empower us with a
humble spirit to call and access your promise. I pray this in the name of
Jesus. AMEN

Be strong and
courageous today calling on the Lord,
