Lift Up Your Eyes

“I will lift up
mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the
LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he
that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither
slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right
hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD
shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall
preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for
evermore.” Psalm 121 (KJV)

Where is the source
of our help? It is amazing where people seek for help. Usually in places where
real help does not exist. Addicted with things that only destroy, but do not
help. Making excuses that offer no peace or calm.

Our text passage
offers some real peace to the seeker. Looking in the right place will find
real, long-lasting help. A peace the surpasses everything we know. Why look
anywhere but to the one who created the heavens and the earth? He is the only
one who can truly help us in our time of need.

We can’t wake him,
since he doesn’t sleep. His help will place us on solid ground. When we are
kept by his strong hand, what shall move us? Preserved from all evil, what can
make us afraid? When the Lord is on our side, we can shout with the joy of
assurance!

When the Lord is
traveling with us . . . yes, even in the valley of the shadow of death, we will
fear no evil. He is our help when we go out. He is our help when we rest at
home. He is our help yesterday, today and forevermore!

Dear Father, thank
you for being our help. Empower us to look unto your hills for all our needs.
This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be strong and
courageous today lifting up your eyes,
