Over the years, as a
pastor, I have known several people who had hip or knee replacement

Usually, about six
hours after the surgery, replacement patients are asked to sit up the on side
of the bed, then stand on the new joint for a few minutes. With few exceptions,
these patients are shocked at the lack of pain they experience. And most will
exclaim, “I can’t believe this! If I had known it would be this great, I
would have had surgery years earlier.”

Isn’t that the way
with most of us. We continue to live with a lot of pain, rather than dealing
with a few discomforts that will free us from the pain. We put it off and make
excuses and rationalize , yada, yada, yada, until our misery is unbearable.

Something is
diseased and ignoring it won’t make it go away. Didn’t momma say, “Sooner
is always better than later”? Why wait until our pain and affliction is
beyond our ability to cope? Something needs to be replaced. Something new is
required. Enough is enough! Time for action!

You might balk at
the prospects of the “surgery” required in your circumstances, but
why not get on the road to health? Why wait around while it only gets worse? I
assure you that the improvement will be worth it.

Dear Father, thank
you for seeing and healing our pain and afflictions. Empower us with your grace
and power. I pray this in the name of Jesus. AMEN
