Truth

” Oh, the depth
of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His
judgments and His ways past finding out!” (Romans 11:33 NKJ)
Snap judgments . . .
without malice or forethought, we all make them from time to time. And when we
make such decisions, we believe we are right. Beliefs and systematic theologies
are often developed in just this manner.
Messages that people
put on their vehicles and tattoo on their bodies say a lot about their
attitudes and beliefs. Some of them are comical, some are vulgar, some
political, some religious and so forth. Some of them are inflammatory, some are
degrading, some are outright heretical.
Without a careful
and prayerful study of God’s Word, we will all make snap judgments that mislead
us in our interpretations. It is important for me to remember that I am not God
and do not know what he knows. Today’s Scripture passage sets forth a sobering
thought.
The depth of divine
knowledge is beyond human ability to comprehend. We can get lost exploring the
riches involved. God’s judgments and considerations surpass our highest
intellect. All our powers of deduction can never come to a final conclusion of
God’s wisdom.
God has never asked
counsel from anyone (Romans 11:34). He is not indebted to anyone for their help
(Romans 11:35). “For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things . .
.” (Romans 11:36 NKJ).
When I remember
this, I am filled with humility. It reminds me that I don’t know everything. It
also reminds me that I must continue my search and keep asking his guidance.
His is the well of truth. His is the vault of wisdom and knowledge and
understanding.
Dear Father, thank
you for your grace and mercy. Enable me to search your vault for your truth and
your will for my life. I ask this in the name of Jesus. AMEN
