Peace

“You will keep
him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
Trust in the LORD forever, For in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength.”
(Isaiah 26:3-4 NKJ)
Peace! Perfect
peace! What a marvelous concept! How does a person reach this level of
peacefulness? It seems to come only with our confidence in the one who provides
it. The degree of trust we place in the Lord generates the measure of peace we
enjoy.
Paul, the Apostle to
the Gentiles, wrote, “all things work together for good to those who love
God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28
NKJ). I remind  myself of this regularly
when I am needing reassurance. For many Christians, Paul’s words has become a
mantra to repeat in times of trouble.
Yet, the reality
proclaimed by both Paul and Isaiah flows out of the believer’s trust in the
Lord. If we review all our life experiences, we will see that, over time, they
have all worked out for the best — our good. And recognizing this empowers us
to trust the Lord in the midst of the storms of life. And our trust in him
creates the peace that “surpasses all understanding” (Philippians
4:7).
Of course, keeping
our thoughts focused on the Peace-Giver is also necessary. The Apostle Paul
exhorts us to “take every thought captive to obey Christ” (2 Corinthians.
10:5).  Who we meditate about all day is
important. Like love-sick teens, we must keep our thoughts fixed on Christ.
This is no mere minute-by-minute thinking, but a constant frame of mind. It is
best seen in our attitudes, prayers, and daily manner.
Our confidence in
God . . . We petition him with the assurance that he hears and will respond in
our best interest. We battle the enemy with the confidence that our victory is
already won through Christ. We maintain a peaceful perspective because we trust
the One who is our peace.
Dear Father, thank
you for the confidence and peace that comes through Christ. Increase our trust
and empower our faith. I pray this in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Trust God and enjoy
perfect peace today,
