Victory

“But thanks be
to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my
beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the
Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” (1Corinthians
15:57-58 NKJ)
O what a Savior! O
hallelujah! What a gracious, merciful God who gave his only son to be the
ransom price that redeems those who put their faith in his sacrifice. Our
gratitude overflows for this victory through Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord.
It is a victory like
no other! We didn’t ascend into the heavens and force him down to Calvary. We
didn’t descend into the earth and resurrect him from death’s grip. Instead, it
was Jesus, the Christ, who joyfully surrendered himself and willingly laid down
his life . It was his act of personal sacrifice that supplies our victory of
righteousness and salvation. We enjoy his righteousness by faith that God
resurrected Jesus from the dead. And we enjoy his salvation by our faith
confession that he is Lord. “For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes on
Him will not be put to shame’ ” (Romans 10:11 NKJ).
Considering his
unique sacrifice, we can be unwavering in our confidence of his victory on our
behalf. Note Paul’s words, “Be steadfast in the work of the Lord.” We
may consider this exhortation with a view to his work on Calvary. In addition, Paul’s
exhortation to be “immovable” suggests that we should confidently
refuse to move away from or out of the victory supplied by Christ.
And Paul explains
that our labor is important and not in vain. We diligently labor to enter the
rest of his victory (Hebrews 4:11), and we diligently labor in the field of his
kingdom. But both spiritual and physical labors are considered to be “in the
Lord” and as such are neither empty nor useless.
Dear Father, thank
you for giving the victory that truly matters. Grant me the firm fortitude to
be steadfast, immovable and overflowing in the victory of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ. I ask this in his holy name. AMEN
Rejoice today in
Christ’s victory,
